Spotify enhances ¡Viva Latino! playlist!

This post comes from Spotify’s blog.

With the next generation of ¡Viva Latino!, Spotify is bringing you inside the music, sharing deeper insight than ever before into the stories and the voices of Latin music today. For a sneak peek from music’s biggest names about what ¡Viva Latino! has to offer, click here.

Since launching in 2014, the ¡Viva Latino! playlist has broken down barriers while simultaneously building bridges of cultural understanding by passing the mic to the most important voices in Latin music, both established and emerging, and bringing them to the rest of the world — regardless of language, origin or location.

Starting today, whether you’re a fan of Maluma, Daddy Yankee, Shakira or J Balvin, you can tune in each Friday to experience the latest and hottest Latin songs on a constantly refreshing playlist that brings the heat. But any true fan can tell you there’s more to music than just the finished product, and there’s more to an artist than what you hear on the track. So, along with the chart-topping tracks, Spotify will fill the new ¡Viva Latino! feed with exclusive, original content, including videos from artists of all genres, behind-the-scenes tracks, and more. This new enhanced playlist offers fans unparalleled access to the movers and shakers making a name for Latin music across the globe.

“The recent successes of Latin artists such as Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and J Balvin have shown us that music today knows no geographic boundary or language,” said Rocio Guerrero, Head of Global Cultures at Spotify. “Latin music has truly become a universal language. We want to not only celebrate, but continue to foster that growth by bringing fans one step closer to their favorite Latin artists, while giving emerging artists a platform to reach new ears.”

¡Viva Latino! is the only place where you’ll get exclusive access to video premieres from emerging and chart-topping Latin artists. And to get things going, we’ve recruited some of the biggest names in music to help us celebrate our first week:

  • 11/14: Daddy Yankee ft.  Bad Bunny “Vuelve”
  • 11/15: Bomba Estereo “Química”
  • 11/16: J Balvin “Mi Gente”
  • 11/17: Luis Fonsi’s new single featuring Demi Lovato.
  • 11/18: Carlos Vives “Nuestro Secreto”
  • 11/19: Anitta’s new single “Downtown” featuring J Balvin.

But we’re not stopping there. Spotify is also introducing ¡Viva Latino! A Spotify Original Podcast, where every two weeks Latin music’s superstars will offer listeners context around their newest global hits charting on the ¡Viva Latino! playlist. The podcast will feature such guests as Jennifer Lopez, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Jesse & Joy, Becky G, Bad Bunny, Carlos Vives, Bomba Estéreo and many more.

Following the success of RapCaviar Live, Spotify will also bring ¡Viva Latino! to fans with the best live experiences featuring the most influential and emerging artists in Latin music, through a touring concert series to begin in 2018.

Over six million music fans already follow ¡Viva Latino!, and those numbers are rising every day as Latin music steadily becomes one of the most listened to genres on the planet. This is an opportunity to tell their stories like no one ever has before.

¡Viva Latino! is the third flagship playlist to receive the all-star treatment, which includes a brand refresh as well as many more surprises to come. And for the latest, be sure to follow the new official ¡Viva Latino! Instagram account here.

The new ¡Viva Latino! is available in the U.S. and Latin America on both mobile (iOS & Android) and desktop for free and premium users. Check it out here.
